“The most moving and meaningful aspect of Monteverdi’s works is the ultimate symbiosis of music and text. Somehow, he fuses them in such a way that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. His music is always noble, complex and dramatic; it is such an honour to be able to explore these multi-layered depths. The chance to perform this music with such a fantastic ensemble is a dream from which I hope never to wake!”
Wendy, with her warm, flexible and clear tone, embraces repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions. During her masters’ degree at the Dutch National Opera Academy, she discovered her passion and talent for opera and musical theatre. She can regularly be seen onstage as an operatic soprano and sings major roles with BarokOpera Amsterdam, Opera Nijetrijne and Opera Minora. She also performs oratoria of all styles with various ensembles and under the direction of well-known conductors.
Chamber music also plays an important role in Wendy’s career. She has been a member of Le Nuove Musiche since 2012 and works regularly with diverse ensembles and pianists, focusing especially on theatrical stagings of classical works. She was laureate at the National Presentation of Vocalists in 2009 and studied with Sasja Hunnego, Rita Dams and Jard van Nes. She is currently being coached by Paul Triepels.
